Female Passenger Strikes Officer After Driver Charged With DWI In Route 22 Stop, Police Say

A woman from Danbury became combative during a traffic stop on Route 22, allegedly striking a Putnam County Sheriff’s Sergeant attempting to take her into custody.

A Sheriff’s Deputy stopped Danbury resident Ronald Rodas-Loor, 22, shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19 on Route 22 in Southeast, when he was spotted committing a violation. During the stop, while speaking with Rodas-Loor, it was determined that he was allegedly intoxicated and he was arrested.

Rodas-Loor was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent at the Putnam County Correctional Facility. He was then released on his own recognizance.

A passenger in the car, Danbury resident Cyndi Chabla, 22, allegedly refused to comply with the Sheriff Deputy’s instructions, and in the struggle, she struck a Sergeant who was assisting the Deputy at the scene.

Chabla was arrested and charged with obstruction of governmental administration, assault, and resisting arrest. She was arraigned in the Town of Patterson Justice Court and released on $1,500 bail. Both Rodas-Loor and Chabla are due to appear in the Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer the charges at a later date to answer the charges.
